Video Trace Library

Welcome to the video trace library. We provide video traces for network performance evaluations. We also provide the commonly used video test sequences and some original video productions in the uncompressed YUV format for download. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Latest News:
Traces for videos encoded with H.264/AVC and H.264 SVC are now available. H.264 AVC and H.264 SVC represent the latest advances in video compression achieving typically over twice the compression ratios of MPEG-4 Part 2. That is, for the same video quality, the average bit rate of an H.264/AVC or H.264 SVC encoding is typically half of the average bit rate of the corresponding MPEG-4 Part 2 encoding. This improvement in compression efficiency with H.264/AVC and H. 264 SVC comes at the expense of substantially increased traffic variabilities in the encoded video streams. Please refer to the quick reference guide and the H.264 sections of the video trace library.

Video Traces for Network Performance Evaluation
Our library of video traces includes traces for H.263, MPEG-4, H.264, wavelets, multiple desciptions, and pre-encoded internet content.

Tools for Research Several tools developed in the course of generating this website. We additionally provide interfaces to commonly used network simulators.

YUV 4:2:0 Video Sequences
Commonly used video test sequences in QCIF and CIF formats.
